Sensex Gains Over 300 Points; Nifty Near 23,150 After CAS
Indian benchmark indices closed higher on Friday following the closing auction session, with the Sensex rising 315 points, or 0.43%, to 73,896, while the Nifty advanced 77 points, or 0.34%, to 23,141. Market breadth remained positive, with 2,180 stocks advancing compared with 1,962 declining. Among sectors, auto and consumer durables gained nearly 0.9% each, while realty rose 0.76% and private banks added 0.45%. In contrast, IT, media, oil & gas and pharma stocks ended in negative territory. The broader market was mixed, with the midcap index slipping 0.14%, while the smallcap index edged up 0.15%. Meanwhile, India VIX declined 4.33%, indicating softer market volatility.
