Sterlite Technologies wins $1.2 billion order

Sterlite Technologies Limited has received a $1.2 billion order from a hyperscale customer for optical connectivity products, with the arrangement running through December 2030. The supplies are planned across calendar years starting from 2026, with purchase orders expected to be released periodically. The agreement also includes a risk-sharing framework covering potential demand and supply-capacity shortfalls. For me, the key point is the duration of the arrangement. A multi-year hyperscale order gives better visibility than a single project win, but the headline order value should not be treated as immediate revenue. Actual purchase orders, shipment schedules and execution will decide how much of this opportunity reaches the financial statements. The stock was trading around ₹953.55 on the NSE at 11:32 AM on October 1, up 4.8% at that time. The ₹900-910 zone is the important area I would watch for price structure, while sustained volume near the recent highs would provide additional confirmation. My stance is positive on the order visibility, but I would track actual order conversion and execution rather than extrapolating the entire $1.2 billion into near-term earnings. Disclosure: I do not hold a position in Sterlite Technologies Limited as of the time of writing.
