According to NLB Services, a global technology and digital talent solutions provider, India’s live event and concert sector is expected to create close to 1.2 crore (12 million) temporary jobs by 2030–2032. Expecting more than 100 large-format concerts each year nationwide, major cities such as Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad will maintain their leading positions, while tier II and III cities like Shillong, Guwahati, Pune, Jaipur, Kochi, Lucknow, Indore, and Chandigarh are rising as new centers of attraction. Every concert is projected to generate 15,000–20,000 temporary jobs in production, logistics, hospitality, crowd control, stage setup, digital media, and artist management, increasing the need for skilled workers. The industry is also greatly enhancing related sectors such as travel, tourism, hospitality, and Food and Beverage (F&B). For example, Coldplay’s concert in Ahmedabad in 2024 contributed Rs. 641 crore (US$ 74.18 million) to the regional economy, comprising Rs. 72 crore (US$ 8.33 million) in Goods and Services Tax (GST) revenue, along with a 300–350% increase in flight demand, an 8% rise in train bookings, and unprecedented hotel rates reaching Rs. 90,000 (US$ 10,416) each night. Approximately 10–15% of these temporary positions are evolving into permanent roles in audio engineering, digital strategy, event technology, and production management. In the coming years, the overall contribution of the concert economy is expected to surpass Rs. 15,000 crore (US$ 1.74 billion), driven by income from ticket sales, hospitality, transportation, and broader economic effects.
