Digital India Scaling: UMANG, DigiLocker, and CSC Network Milestones

Under the Digital India initiative, the Government of India continues to scale its citizen-centric digital service delivery through UMANG, DigiLocker, and an expanding network of Common Service Centres (CSCs). As of mid-2026, UMANG offered 2,575 public services to over 11.66 crore registered users, accumulating nearly 798 crore transactions in three years. Simultaneously, DigiLocker reached over 72.43 crore users with access to 5,437 document types, recording 72.86 crore access transactions over the same period. To bridge the digital divide in rural areas, the CSC footprint was widened to 4,07,122 functional centers at the Gram Panchayat level, with 70,069 operated by women Village Level Entrepreneurs. Integrated with foundational Digital Public Infrastructure components like national identity verification systems, eSign, and API Setu, these platforms facilitate secure, consent-based, and paperless administrative processes. By enabling remote digital authentication and document verification, the ecosystem drastically reduces physical bureaucratic visits and paper usage. This digital transformation is complemented by digital literacy efforts like the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Digital Saksharta Abhiyan (PMGDISHA) and the addition of multilingual capabilities, driving inclusive governance and seamless public service access across urban, rural, and underserved regions. $TCS
