India has launched its inaugural homegrown high precision compact diode laser, created by Prenishq Pvt Ltd, a spin-off from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi backed by the National Quantum Mission. Unveiled at ESTIC 2025 by Union Minister of Science & Technology, Dr. Jitendra Singh, this innovation represents a significant leap in India’s capacity to create essential hardware for quantum communication, secure financial systems against quantum threats, and photonic quantum computing. Created for research and advanced education, the laser provides excellent beam quality, long-term reliability, and consistent performance across ultraviolet to near-infrared wavelengths, allowing easy integration into scientific and industrial applications. Featuring built-in driver electronics, temperature regulation, minimal power usage, and a compact design, the system guarantees effective, reliable performance across diverse conditions. Its optional fibre-coupled output and free-space features, along with plug-and-play convenience, render it ideal for classrooms, research labs, and industrial applications. Designed as a cost-effective, easy-to-maintain, and user-friendly quantum-grade device, the laser facilitates experiments that demand accurate control over wavelength and power.
