India’s Biotech Sector Eyes $300 Billion Milestone by 2030, Says Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh
India's bioeconomy is on a massive growth trajectory, projected to reach ₹28.50 lakh crore ($300 billion) by 2030 and cementing the nation's position as a premier global biotechnology hub. According to Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh, who recently unveiled the 'Building India as a Leading Bioeconomy Powerhouse by 2035' roadmap, the sector has already achieved a staggering nearly twenty-fold increase, jumping from $10 billion in 2014 to roughly ₹18.50 lakh crore ($195 billion). This rapid expansion is set to fortify domestic healthcare, food security, vaccine innovation, and high-skilled employment, directly aligning with the government's "Vocal for Local" vision of self-reliance. Central to this transformation is the BioE3 (Biotechnology for Economy, Environment and Employment) policy, making India one of the few nations with a dedicated framework to fast-track research and commercialization across the biotechnology value chain. The strategic roadmap focuses on scaling up capabilities in biomanufacturing, sustainable bio-based products, and advanced tech solutions to establish India as a dominant global leader by 2035. Ultimately, this sustained momentum is expected to drive eco-friendly industrial growth, boost competitiveness in the life sciences, and unlock transformative opportunities spanning healthcare, agriculture, and environmental technologies. $BIOCON $WOCKPHARMA $DIVISLAB $LAURUSLABS
