Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has reached a significant achievement by securing a substantial contract for constructing transport infrastructure in Dubai, UAE, thereby reinforcing its position as a leading engineering and construction entity in the Middle East. This “significant” contract is worth between Rs 1,000 crore and Rs 2,500 crore (US$ 110.20 million to US$ 275.50 million). The UAE government assigned the project to L&T's transportation infrastructure division, which is a component of the initial phase of a comprehensive road development initiative aimed at upgrading Dubai's urban public transport system. The full upgrade project for Latifa Bint Hamdan Street will take 36 months and involves the total reconstruction of the current road corridor, running from Emirates Road (E611) to Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road (E311). The project will involve transforming the current two-lane dual carriageway into a four-lane dual carriageway, featuring two lanes for traffic in each direction. These roadway modifications will significantly enhance capacity on a crucial arterial road in the city and assist in addressing some issues related to heightened congestion levels, while also improving the overall movement of all vehicle types along this vital route. L&T's proven technical expertise and capacity to finish intricate infrastructure projects worldwide further validate its achievements in the Middle East
