Piyush Goyal NAM Business Roundtable Address
Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal invited American manufacturers to expand their presence in India, collaborate with domestic small and medium enterprises (SMEs), and co-invest in advanced manufacturing to forge resilient cross-border supply chains. Speaking at a business roundtable convened by the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), which brought together small and large US enterprise leaders, the Minister showcased India’s expanding industrial ecosystem and skilled workforce as vital drivers for deeper bilateral engagement. The interaction underscored a strategic shift in India-US economic relations, expanding beyond traditional trade into joint technology innovation, capital investment, and high-value manufacturing capabilities.
The deliberations focused on scaling US industrial footprint in India, accelerating SME integration, and advancing co-investment frameworks across advanced manufacturing sectors to insulate supply chains against global disruption. These discussions align with ongoing negotiations surrounding the proposed India-US Bilateral Trade Agreement, alongside Minister Goyal's participation in the G20 Trade Ministers’ Meeting and direct engagements with US trade officials. By linking policy alignment with private-sector co-investment, both nations aim to deepen strategic cooperation, spur mutual economic growth, and accelerate high-tech manufacturing integration.
