Salesforce Targets AI Re-Engineering Hub in India

Salesforce has identified India as a pivotal driver in its global strategy to rebuild enterprise software systems with an AI-first architecture. Speaking on the sidelines of Dreamforce 2026 in San Francisco, CEO and Co-founder Marc Benioff highlighted the strategic importance of India’s extensive technology workforce, engineering talent, and ecosystem partners in executing this transition. Under this new paradigm, traditional enterprise platforms are being re-engineered around intelligent, autonomous AI interfaces that execute complex tasks collaboratively with human users. Having maintained an operational footprint in India for over two decades spanning research, development, sales, and customer support, Salesforce views its Indian teams and partner network as central to embedding agentic AI and automated workflows across its global enterprise suite. This AI-led transformation presents unprecedented engineering opportunities as enterprise applications evolve beyond conventional browser-based interfaces. Mr. Benioff explained that for decades, customers built applications where operational data was stored as metadata and rendered via web browsers. Under the emerging system, this legacy metadata will be recomposed through AI-driven interfaces, modernizing existing enterprise capabilities. Comparing the magnitude of this technological overhaul to a "Y2K moment," Mr. Benioff emphasized the massive engineering effort required to upgrade legacy systems, positioning Indian technology professionals at the core of this global enterprise software shift.
