Tata’s Westside launches its largest expansion drive yet, aiming for 100 annual store openings.
Trent Ltd., the retail arm of the Tata Group, is set to significantly accelerate Westside’s expansion by opening up to 100 new stores annually. Aiming to turn the premium fashion brand into its next major growth driver, the company plans to build on its 300-store base by entering North-Eastern states while deepening its footprint in key hubs like Delhi, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad. Beyond physical retail, Trent is ramping up its omnichannel strategy to boost e-commerce’s revenue share from 6% to 10%. To support this aggressive push, the retailer is integrating artificial intelligence across operations, dramatically enhancing in-house design output to 400–500 styles weekly and slashing production lead times down to 30 days. This strategic pivot towards Westside allows Trent to diversify its growth momentum beyond its fast-growing value brand, Zudio, amid rising retail competition. The dual focus on rapid brick-and-mortar expansion and advanced digital transformation is positioned to strengthen inventory management, supply chain efficiency, and customer experience. Broadened further by plans for international reach, this comprehensive scaling strategy is set to create substantial local employment and reinforce India’s position as a dynamic, rapidly growing consumer market. $TRENT
