Aurobindo Pharma enters US dermatology market
Aurobindo Pharma Limited (NSE: AUROPHARMA), through its subsidiary Acrotech Biopharma, has launched ADQUEY in the US for mild-to-moderate atopic dermatitis.
The launch also marks Acrotech’s entry into the US dermatology segment through a dedicated business unit.
Key details
• ADQUEY contains difamilast 1%, a non-steroidal topical PDE4 inhibitor.
• It is approved for patients aged two years and above with mild-to-moderate atopic dermatitis.
• The product was originally discovered by Otsuka Pharmaceutical and licensed to Acrotech for US commercialisation.
• The relevant treatment segment was estimated at around $1.3 billion through July 2026.
My view
This is more than a single product launch because Aurobindo is building a specialised dermatology presence in the US.
The opportunity depends on how quickly ADQUEY gains physician adoption and whether the new commercial platform can support more dermatology products later. Building a dedicated speciality sales setup also brings additional costs, so scale will matter.
What I’m watching next
I will watch prescription traction for ADQUEY, further dermatology launches and whether management starts disclosing the contribution of this new business.
Stance: Positive on the entry into a higher-value speciality segment, but commercial adoption will decide the real impact.
Disclosure: I do not have any holding or position in the stock mentioned above.
