Jupiter Wagons wins ₹100 crore BESS projects
Jupiter Wagons Limited (NSE: JWL) has secured Battery Energy Storage System projects worth about ₹100 crore in Uttarakhand. The project involves 41 MW/102.5 MWh of storage capacity.
The order is significant because it expands Jupiter Wagons beyond its traditional railway manufacturing business into energy-storage infrastructure. The company has also received a Letter of Award for a 50 MW/200 MWh BESS project in West Bengal.
My view is that the key development is not just the ₹100 crore order value. It is the creation of a new revenue stream through JEM Energy. The company is targeting a ₹1,000 crore BESS order book by FY27, so execution and conversion of this pipeline will be important.
I would watch the pace of BESS order additions, project execution and whether JEM Energy reaches EBITDA profitability as guided for Q3 FY27. These factors will help determine whether the energy-storage business can become a meaningful contributor.
Stance: Positive on the business diversification, but execution remains the key trigger.
