$INDIGO inks landmark deal for over 1,000 aircraft engines for 510 Airbus A320neo planes
India's largest carrier IndiGo on Monday announced that it will place an order with CFM International for over 1,000 LEAP-1A engines to power its fleet of 510 A320neo family aircraft. IndiGo and CFM International – an equal joint venture between GE Aerospace and Safran Aircraft Engines - signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the transaction at the Farnborough International Airshow in the United Kingdom. The procurement of over 1,000 LEAP-1A engines to power 510 Airbus A320neo family aircraft represents the "largest single order ever placed for LEAP engines and a record for CFM International," according to a press release on Monday.
