JK Tyre: Can premiumisation drive the next growth phase?

JKTYRE
JK Tyre & Industries Limited is expanding capacity while increasing its premium product mix. The key question is whether higher-value products can improve growth and margins as the company invests further. What is changing? JK Tyre has been investing heavily in expanding its manufacturing capacity. The company completed Phase III of its Banmore passenger-car radial tyre expansion in January 2026. The total investment at the facility across the expansion phases is over ₹1,000 crore, taking production capacity to 30,000 passenger-car radial tyres per day, or about 10.5 million tyres annually. The company has also commissioned ₹1,400 crore of projects for passenger-car radial and truck-bus radial capacity. Another ₹1,130 crore of commercial-tyre expansion projects are under implementation. My view I would look at JK Tyre's expansion through two separate lenses. The The first is capacity utilisation. The company has invested heavily in additional capacity, so the return on that capital will depend on how quickly the new capacity gets absorbed. The second is product mix. If premium passenger-car tyres, specialised commercial tyres and higher-value products continue gaining traction, JK Tyre may be able to improve profitability without depending entirely on volume growth. The Laksar turnaround also provides an interesting example. Capacity utilisation at the plant increased from around 30% when it was acquired to nearly 95% today, according to the company. That suggests execution and utilisation will be just as important as headline capacity additions. What I'm watching next: premium PCR mix, capacity utilisation, tyre volumes, raw-material costs and EBITDA margin. Disclosure: I am a SEBI Registered Research Analyst.
