IndiGo Signs Record-Breaking MoU for 1,000+ LEAP-1A Engines with CFM International

InterGlobe Aviation Limited (IndiGo) has signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with CFM International (a 50/50 joint venture of GE Aerospace and Safran) for over 1,000 LEAP-1A engines. Announced on July 20, 2026, at the Farnborough Airshow, this marks the largest single order ever placed for LEAP engines in aviation history. Key Deal Highlights: Scope: The engines will power 510 Airbus A320neo Family aircraft, supporting IndiGo’s massive fleet expansion. Comprehensive Support: The agreement includes CFM’s support in establishing IndiGo’s upcoming engine Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facility, alongside a long-term material services agreement to ensure predictable costs and high dispatch reliability. Market Context: India is now CFM’s third-largest market, with over 2,000 engines on order across five Indian carriers. Strategic Impact: This mega-deal cements a decade-long partnership between IndiGo and CFM. By securing long-term engine supply and localized MRO capabilities, IndiGo is proactively de-risking its supply chain, ensuring operational resilience, and locking in predictable maintenance costs as it scales its operations. For CFM, it validates the LEAP engine's industry-leading reliability and reinforces the strategic importance of the Indian aviation market, backed by strong local manufacturing and engineering footprints. Outlook: This agreement provides exceptional long-term visibility for IndiGo’s fleet modernization and sustainability goals, while solidifying India's position as a critical global hub for aerospace manufacturing and MRO services. $INDIGO
