TCS AI revenue crosses $3 billion in Q2 FY27

Research Analyst: UJVIN NEVATIA (PROPRIETOR: NEVAT INVESTMENTS) | SEBI Registration No.: INH100009628 Tata Consultancy Services Limited (

TCS
) reported 15% year-on-year growth in net profit to ₹13,884 crore in Q2 FY27. Revenue increased 11% to ₹73,188 crore, while annualised AI revenue crossed $3.1 billion. What happened? TCS reported operating margin of 24% and total contract value of $9.6 billion. AI revenue rose from $2.6 billion in Q1 to $3.1 billion in Q2 and now accounts for more than 10% of revenue. The company also announced strategic partnerships with Porsche and Best Buy focused on AI and business transformation. Why does it matter? AI is becoming a larger part of TCS's business mix. This creates an opportunity to capture new demand as clients invest in AI-led transformation. However, AI is also changing the traditional IT services model. TCS needs to convert AI demand into sustainable revenue while managing investment and employee costs. My view The $3.1 billion AI revenue milestone is important, but revenue growth and margins remain equally important. AI growth needs to translate into higher-value engagements rather than simply replacing existing IT spending. The 24% operating margin also shows that maintaining profitability while investing in AI will remain a key challenge. What I am watching next I would track AI revenue growth, large deal wins, operating margins and growth in core IT services. I would also watch whether AI-led projects generate recurring revenue and support sustainable margin performance.
