CSIR Boosts Domestic Industry by Transferring Four Locally Developed Technologies
The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), through its CSIO unit, has bolstered India's self-reliance in technology by transferring four indigenous innovations to industry partners and commercially introducing an IoT-driven rural water monitoring system. Speaking at the New Delhi event, CSIR Director General Dr. N. Kalaiselvi underscored the vital need to convert academic research into market-ready products. As part of this initiative, Pump Academy Private Limited secured licenses for three industrial monitoring tools, while state-run defense enterprise Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) acquired the rights to manufacture advanced Head-Up Display (HUD) optics for the Su-30 aircraft platform. Additionally, Biometry Technologies Private Limited launched an affordable IoT system designed to track rural water quality, volume, and distribution. This commercialization drive highlights expanding public-private synergy, underlined by BEL paying ₹1.67 crore ($177,660) in royalties to CSIR-CSIO during FY26 for various licensed military avionics technologies, including HUD systems, lighting solutions, and alignment tools.
