Bandhan Bank Q1 FY27: Post-Result Outlook

$BANDHANBNK reported a mixed quarter. While net profit increased 35% YoY to around ₹502 crore due to significantly lower provisions, the market focused on the negatives. Operating profit declined, expenses rose sharply, and management reduced its FY27 RoA guidance, leading to a sharp 17% sell-off. On the positive side, loan growth remained healthy, NII grew around 6%, NIM stayed at ~6.2%, and both Gross and Net NPAs improved, indicating that asset quality continues to strengthen. Technical Outlook The stock has witnessed a panic breakdown, falling below its 20, 50 and 100-day moving averages in a single session. The RSI has also slipped near the oversold zone, reflecting extreme negative sentiment. However, despite today's fall, the stock is still trading above its 200-DMA (~₹172), which becomes a crucial long-term support. Immediate Support: ₹171-173 (200-DMA) Next Support: ₹160 Resistance: ₹190-195 Major Resistance: ₹203-205 A close below ₹171 could trigger another leg of selling towards ₹160, while sustained buying above ₹190-195 would indicate that panic selling has eased. What Should Investors Do? Existing Investors: Avoid panic selling after a one-day sharp correction. If you're a long-term investor, hold with strict support at ₹171. Fresh averaging should only be considered once the stock forms a stable base. New Investors: Do not rush to buy immediately after the crash. Wait for price stabilization or a bullish reversal pattern above ₹190-195 before taking fresh exposure. Overall View The sharp correction was driven more by weaker future guidance than by weak Q1 numbers. Fundamentally, Bandhan Bank still shows improving asset quality and healthy business growth, but concerns over profitability, rising costs and lower RoA guidance may keep the stock under pressure in the near term. Long-term investors can remain cautiously positive, while short-term traders should wait for technical confirmation before entering.
