# Adani Enterprises: Why AI infrastructure could be a new growth engine
Adani Enterprises Limited is expanding beyond traditional infrastructure into AI-ready data centres. The opportunity is not just about building data centres; it is about combining computing capacity with reliable power and energy infrastructure.
**What is changing:** AdaniConneX secured a 400 MW hyperscale order in Visakhapatnam, taking its cumulative tied-up capacity to more than 960 MW. The group has also announced plans to invest US$100 billion by 2035 in renewable-energy-powered
**Why does it matter?** AI workloads require substantial computing power, reliable electricity, cooling systems and uninterrupted operations. This creates demand for large-scale data-centre infrastructure. Adani’s presence across energy, transmission and infrastructure could support the development of an integrated energy-and-computing platform.
However, announced investment and contracted capacity are not the same as operating revenue. Construction timelines, customer commitments, power availability and capital expenditure will determine how quickly these plans translate into financial performance.
**My view:** The interesting part of AEL’s data-centre strategy is the potential to connect its existing infrastructure capabilities with a growing demand for AI computing. But investors should distinguish long-term ambitions from projects already commissioned and generating revenue.
**What I’m watching:** Data-centre capacity commissioned, new customer contracts, utilisation, capital expenditure, funding requirements and operating cash flow.
**Stance:** The AI infrastructure opportunity could become an important part of AEL’s business mix, but execution and returns on invested capital will determine its long-term contribution.
